B.E. TEK

Today for school I went to my dad's job. This day has been extremely easy except for working on replacing motherboards in computers. Even then those didn't take much time at all in the long run. So much of my day was easy to the point that it felt like I had another free day. All in all the day went so well that the day flew by in no time. Especially with my computer over with me to help pass the time.

After waiting half of the day I got to go eat lunch at a place called Waldo's Pizza. A remarkable little hole in the wall which I have yet to see empty. In fact it is always so full that last time me and my dad went over to the place just to eat pizza ordered by us and not the buffet we waited an hour to get our seats. The wait despite it being long was completely worth it.

After returning back from lunch we settled down and went back to work. Not much work required on my part but things were going well over there. With all of the days events things seemed extremely easy. I hope to see other days like this. But for everyone out there that was looking for my blog entry yesterday I am sorry. I said I was going to do it at home but I never got around to it. Mainly I should say that it slipped my mind but I think that most people wouldn't except that as an excuse.

Free Day

This entry is going to be a little shorter then usual. Today I got away with sleeping in and doing nothing but Made To Serve. Honestly one of my best school days ever. I just decided that for today I was going to pop my free day and relax. That is exactly what I did and boy was it worth it. I woke up more refreshed then I have been in a long time. Not even needing caffeine for once.

Though today was a free day I went to Made to Serve with Kristi. I wished I could've said that this experience was amazing and fun, but I can't. I saw a man that was not only homeless but was mugged, pistol whipped, and his fingers broken and swollen. This was actually quite disturbing as I had seen this man once before and he was always cheerful but today he was depressed and I could barely see any hint of a smile. I miss the smile I saw him with the first day I met him.

I Take it Back!

From the last blog entry I would love to take back a certain comment. The one about the foundation work being hard and useless. I was just a little bit upset at the time about situations that had nothing to do with school what so ever. I actually am now ahead of my work schedule and getting the work down to a key. Both of my recent tests were aced with flying colors. I really don't understand why I was complaining yesterday. It all seems so stupid to me now.

Like I said, I have gone above and beyond on my work. After doing the rest of today's work I am going to do tomorrows work ahead of time. Pretty much all I have to do tomorrow is some more essay questions. I can now do those easily without getting spinny and depressed. I am probably going to throw out my free day card for tomorrow if everything goes according to plan today.

I mentioned my other new books as well. One of them is Catcher in the Rye. Another one is called Anthem. And the last one is my Biology book. I am almost done with Anthem only because I read ahead a little bit. I have barely touched down on Catcher in the Rye. And finnaly The Biology is going to be around for quite a little bit of time.

Foundation Time

For most of the last two weeks I have been doing foundation work. No matter how much I despise this work it just doesn't go away. I know it is only there so I can do the fun work but it still is annoying little pieces of work that don't help at all. I do know they help but I cant do anything but wonder why I am still doing this. I hope that all this work is worth its weight in the coming weeks.

No extra work in the ways of my Kart. I don't have info that I need from a person that is planning on helping us. Like materials to work with. I know Hammer Space  provides tools but I don't really know if they provide anything else. I hope I can get all of my supply's on time. If I don't get them soon I can't enter in the race.

A little insight on any of the work I'm doing. One thing is that I am starting over on my French lessons so that I can get them down. I don't remember the first lessons being this easy at all. I zip through the words and wait for the next ones before they even explain how to say it. Even then I am going back to get better and since this is my goal I better not give into slacking now.

New tools

Starting off with my progress on my kart for the downhill race. I hope to have found a decent body design but there is a lot more to it then that. For example I only imagine the kart but I don't even have the parts yet. No idea how to get brakes, body, steering wheel, and wheels all for $100 or lower. Any ideas would be welcome.

The cool news is that I found a place called Hammer Space. This place will have all of the materials necessary for my kart work. Also I can sign up for some fun classes like metal working or robotics.
A really good place to start for all of the kart is to find the tools I need. If we sign up I get access to all of the tools and even more curriculum.

Work today went pretty well. All of my work today was done except my word problems. I was kinda upset that none of the word problems had anything to do with each other. For example one was multipy a couple of things together. Another one was find the percent of this number. Really was that necessary. Either way it could have been much worse so today went pretty well.

Down to the Basics

Today was all about make up work. The work from the last week that I didn't finish in time for the end of the day. Well here I am all done with everything. Everything except the word problem sheet. Honestly I still don't understand why I can't grasp such an easy process.

Anyway, I completed everything except that worksheet. I even completed the essay question for Catcher in the Rye. The reason why it was so hard is because I wasn't really willing to relate the main characters opinions and thoughts back to me. All it was really was what do you think of his thoughts. It was all that simple. I didn't actually have to wait so long to do the question if I had spent a couple more minutes on the day it was due.

For lunch today Kristi and I ate one fantastic restaurant. It's name is Zara Sushi. I can't help but love such a simple yet enticing restaurant. With a bar view of the sushi being made and the kindness of every employee over there it is a wonder how someone couldn't fall head over heels for such a place. The best part about it is that Zara Sushi is right in front of our house.

Side work

Lets start off with the fact that my work load is only getting worse. I don't know how to work on one set of my math problems, I have more work behind the math problems, and I didn't finish all of today's work either. All in all tomorrow is just getting even more threatening the more I think about it. I don't even know if I will be willing to even get up in the morning to start doing all of this make up work.

On the upside I have been working on a project of my very own since last night after my blog. Though it has nothing to do with school it is still something that I am learning about by doing the work on my own on my own time. I have been working getting a server running for me and my friends to play on. Sadly it is not as hard of a game to get this running for as most. Meaning I am starting out small and maybe working my way up to bigger amounts. I am making a LAN server for me and my friends to play on Minecraft. Still not a hard game to work but still I thought it was necessary to share the fact that I have put plenty of work into this project.

We also have a little guest in our household. His name is Tiger and he is a little white and tan spotted shitzu puppy. He is extremely hyper while also being loved on by everyone in the house hold. Sometimes I wonder if he even notices the attention. Either way Tiger is the funniest little puppy I have seen in a long time as if he is not playing he's sleeping and which as soon he wakes up he plays again. He can't stand having to be alone at any point in time. I'm going to miss him when he finally has to go home.

Make up Work

I have some loads of work coming up and it is about time to start buckling down for the coming storm.  Today I didn't have the time to finish all of my work for the first time in the school year since the first couple of weeks of school.  Honestly though I am amazed I made it this far before having to use one of the make days again. Originally I didn't think I would need a make up day this week as Monday and Tuesday I was trying to find work at the end of the day in order to stay occupied and use all of my time. While today I have several things that will need to be worked on this Friday.

As I said in the last paragraph I didn't get all of my work done but I tried really hard to do so. I finished all of my reading and then continued into the actual work like science and at least one fourth of my Math for the day. Of course in order to get all of my requirements for today finished that are mandatory, I stopped working on math and then went downstairs to work on my French and Blog. Which I hope you guys enjoy immensely. While this blog is more then for enjoyment I certainly get a kick out of spending a part of my school time typing this up for the people that are willing to follow my blog.

Recently I sent an email to one of my old friends to try and keep in contact with them and see how they are doing. Sadly I have not heard back from him or any of my friends for that matter. Mainly because I think that they prefer Facebook to a good email any day of the week. Sadly of course the friend I sent the email to only had a Yahoo account so I can imagine why he would rarely get on as I have seen this website and hope that I never have to use it myself. Nothing against you users out there of course just a personal preference. Question for you people out there. How far have I come from the beginning of the year to now. Since it has been about a month already I thought this would be the perfect time to ask. Please be honest and point out somethings that I am not doing so good at.

Second Glance

Today I couldn't really find much to type about at all. So I decided with some help to type about what I miss and don't miss about public school in some accurate detail. First of all the the things that I miss from the school system as this makes the second part easier to explain. I miss my tight knit group of friends as we were all there to help each other along and share that days news as well as the nice teachers at my school including Ms. Desmet and Mr. Corzine who both tried very hard to help me more then the other teachers

Second up is the things that I did not like at all in the school. Firstly I can say that I hated the thought of homework. Mainly because I perfer to do all of my work when I am given it not 3 hours on my time to relax. Secondly, the obnoxious students who thought they the coolest thing ever cause their pants sagged. Not to mention the fact that the teachers would even after seeing a bad display would do absolutely nothing about it. We had about only 5 kids (that I know about) go to the safe seat and only 2 kids went even farther to the buddy room. I felt that the teachers had a serious lack of responsibility with all of the things going on. Yet I know it's is not their fault as it is all of the things going on behind them in the district making so hard but it didn't have to be so hard in the first place.

Honestly the only reason why my blog mainly consisted of past thought is that my day today was extremely boring. As today's work consisted of Essay questions, science, math, French, and blog. Seriously there was nothing to really be excited about today. Though there is one thing that got me stumped today. It was simply the last essay question on Catcher in the Rye.Which the problem was that I didn't exactly understand the question and I didn't know where to start at all with the subject. Thank goodness they are giving me till Friday to figure out an appropriate answer.

Eating Alligator

Lets start with my mistake in the last blog entry.  I myself did not get to cook alligator.  I was taught to cook alligator which is a bit to difficult for me right now but I will say it is extremely tasty.  Seriously who knew that alligator would be so tender and tasty.  In fact I myself was iffy on the thought that I would be eating this big muscly predator.  I even went as far as to think that the alligator would be tough, chewy, and would be hard to eat.  But it was nowhere near the original thought as it was the complete opposite.  I even went back for seconds almost even thirds!  Here's what the end result of the meal looked like

Me and Kristi went over to Charlies house.  Charlie is the person who runs most of the Free Skool events that I go to.  Though there are other people that host these events I have only ever had Charlie as my Free Skool instructor.  Well we were a bit early of course so we had to wait until Charlie and his mom (the person actually doing most of the cooking) got back to their house.  When it was finally
time to start on the meal I was already getting extremely hungry and the alligator smelled so wonderful it was hard not to lurk around the kitchen while it cooked. This is what the Food started out as and even that looks pretty tasty to me.
We ate the alligator with a salad made with fresh pears, lettuce, goat cheese, and pecans.  More people showed up for the food then we could possibly hope for.
I even got to eat some Christopher Elbow chocolates that are to die for for.  For you people willing to try it in America here's the link to his website http://www.elbowchocolates.com/

Altogether the weekend was great and this week is also going pretty well. It is only right after lunch and I have finished all of my work for the day and am now typing up my blog for everyone to enjoy. I also finally started on science this year and we are starting with biology. Pretty fun place start if you ask me. Either way today has been nothing but a new day with plenty of reading and writing. Of course I also started on a new book which I think most of the people reading this blog have at least heard about once in their life. It is called "The Catcher in The Rye". So yeah I am starting this book as well as moving through most of my work quickly and we will see about how accurate I am with the overall work load.

Cool new activity

3rd week and doing good. Amazingly I have been writing this blog for almost a month and most of the blog entries are postive that don't have any downsides apparent. Well today was no different but I still want to address the fact of far I have come. For example I know most people that have followed my blog from day 1 can reflect on most of my bad grammar and lack of motivation. Now on the other hand I am willing and planning on sticking out this home school year and only aim to improve where I lack in skills.

Today is the day I earned my first free day! I only earn free days after clocking 20 hours over the alloted amount of time nessacary for where I should be on this day. If I get used to working at an even and fast pace I could get loads of free days. These ought to really help when I just need a breather or to get some more sleep on to prep or something. This can also mess with the schedule greatly so I would actually like to see how things will work out after the free day. As I probably won't do my work on my day of relaxation.

Altogether today has been an astounding day so far and the weekend is just around the corner. So I am feeling up for some R&R before the next week comes along. But before the day is through I have a math test on my fractions and a class on cooking crocodile to finish up my day. I also have one more extra curricular activity which ought to be exciting, fun, and a day you guys might not want to miss on my blog as I hope to be attending. The activity is a gravity race on October 13 where we get to make our own vehicles that we get to make and ride on. What a day that will be!

Field day friday 2

-->
Today was my second field trip of the year. This was actually pretty much the entire day except the blog today. The field trip was to an opera named Madama Butterfly. Though the opera was a tear jerker with loads of drama I actually enjoyed much more then I had expected to. Including the almost front row seats this was not a night to forget. Though I dislike the thought of most an entire program entirely in song it actually wasn't that bad. But lets start from the beginning.

Today started with putting on a purple polo shirt and my khaki pants just to leave in about thirty minutes afterward.

I then loaded the car and headed out with Kristi to be picked up by Kristi's dad and then headed out to Kaufman center.

Really nice place by the way but really confusing. For example, we left the parking garage to go to an elevator, went into another elevator, then one more to get an escort to where we needed to go to watch the opera. Though I believe that the opera was worth the confusion.

The opera started out with a man waiting for his betrothed to arrive so that they could get married and live in a brand new house they got. After the family finds out that the main character(Madam Butterfly) changed her religion to match her new husbands religion (Christianity) they renounced her and left the house screaming her name. Fairly Interesting beginning if you ask me. This play only gets better as you realize that Butterfly's new husband shortly after getting married leaves her for America. and the fact that I could also go up and see the orchestra pit easily durring intervals was really cool.

consulting the past

Today was just another easy day with little to accomplish. But something bad is that I am starting to slack in some aspects. Like instead of posting my blog early I ended up posting my blog tonight at about 10:00. This dosn't bode well for all the work I will need to do on other days. Even with the watchful eyes of the teachers i am falling behind in some areas at a time. I hope to see this solved sooner then later.

Work was mainly on the computer including research, review, revising, and French. For one of my side projects I plan on working on going back through my French to make the upcoming lessons a little bit easier. Revising was checking my work on my computer that I did when I printed my 2nd draft on Adrian Mole. So this one is the third draft.

Finnaly tomorrow is my second field trip of the year. Already after a week from the last one! This is just one of the many perks of home schooling among many. Including flexible work days, Improvement in direct areas of focus for the student, and just flat out good education. Honestly I look back at how I started and what problems I had and seem to see most of my problems I originally had addresed are mostly gone. For example I am getting much better at going through essay questions. But on the other hand more problems emerge. Like that I realize I don't really know how to study after 8 years of public school.

laundry day

Today was one of my make up days. Mainly because this is what I decided for myself. But it wasn't for school that I was doing all of this makeup work. In fact all of it had nothing to do with school at all. What I did today was all the laundry I could find laying about in my brother and I's room. This included my brothers laundry as well. This was a simple yet time consuming task that took me an hour just to fold all of the laundry. That's not including actually putting it away yet.

Despite all of the laundry I didn't really have much work to do today. Mainly because I had already started today's work yesterday. But there wasn't much to begin with. And this week is only going to get easier with my field trip this Thursday and little amount of work to do tomorrow as well. Including this Friday there is not much work left to do this week and I am literally just trying to find some house work to do like my laundry. Though don't get me wrong the house work is actually helping. I mean I haven't seen this house clean since last winter only because we started falling out of the swing of things in the beginning of spring.

I actually am working on my own private project that has nothing to do with school. But before I can continue I need some more duct tape. Only because I am working on perfecting my duct tape hat.

Which as you can tell is not the look of perfection yet. But once I get enough duct tape these hats are going to be worth-wile. Or that's the goal at least. Maybe even try to sell these hats off to people. And I do plan on doing more then one design of hat at some point, but for now its one style any size.

Power working Sunday

This Sunday me and my dad headed out for another free skool activity at about 10:00 AM. The only reason we did this is so that we could attend mushroom planting. Or if you prefer Mushroom plugging. What this consisted of was drilling holes into pre-cut and pre-dried logs and then pulling and then putting a pre infested dowel rod into the drilled holes so that the mushrooms that we wanted would grow. After putting the dowel rods in we had to put wax that we melted over an open fire on the dowel rods.

Before moving on to my second activity that day me and dad stopped at a restaurant and gas station called Papu's cafe.  This was an interesting Mediterranean restaurant that also felt homey and comfortable. And secondly I also got to play some Galaga before starting to eat my actual food. Which what I had was called a Gyro platter. Which definitely its own flavor too it as well as the other flavors on my plate. After our meal we went over to Kristi's apartment to wait for Alex and then moving on to play Commniana with free skool.

Last post I had asked you guys how much is to much. Well I decided that too much has its limit depending on how much it is. Though some things are too much as soon as you have it. Including things like pure stupidity like burning down the house is too much. A bag full of candy eaten in one day is to much. Everything has an unspoken limit that doesn't need to even be uttered. The limits are another unspoken rule of the universe that we live in. Though everyone has there own limits for certain things. Even if they are not what we truly should be doing.

Field Day Friday

Before we start everything about my actual trip I want to tell you about my lunch. My lunch was at a place called Rosedale BBQ. This place was an amazing treat and could easily be on one of my top restaurants in kansas city. It was as the name described a BBQ joint but a famous one at that. It simply stole my heart with a bite of pulled pork sandwich and its old fashioned feel. This place is famous as one of the oldest restaurants in the city. In fact even presidents have eaten at this magnificent place. I mean who wouldn't want to eat here as it even has the old fashioned soda. You know the ones in the glass bottles.

What do you people think is the American Dream? I believe that it is all about having an equal country. Some may think that it's to be as wealthy as possible. being rich and wealthy in life is what happened in today's field trip which was also a Documentary called Queen of Versailles. This may sound like a chick flick but it is nowhere near it. In fact it is about a man named David Seigal and his wife Jackie Seigal. They both were living the dream as the richest time share owners in all of America. But they end up losing everything due to there stubbornness and lack of self control. Though this may sound sad (which it is) they did to themselves by not doing anything about the known problems. By the way I have posted the video on this entry for you to see

There were a several ironic things in this movie but I will only tell you a couple of them. For example one thing is that David was worrying about his children's college careers. Only because despite all of his glorious wealth did not store any money for college for ANY of his 8 kids. This was one of the many depressing things about this movie as nothing was dealt with when they had the chance to do so. Another thing is that Davids wife, Jackie seemed to have no respect for the man bringing home all of the money so they could buy all of the expensive stuff that they were buying. Including the garage full of bikes multiple copies of board games including 3 different copies of operation. I mean seriously what was wrong with this girl. And even worse is that she wondered why her husband was getting so mad at here as if she had ruined his life. Which even if she didn't ruin his life she was just making it worse.

Here's a quote from the movie that I would like to go into more detail about that really messed with me. "Everybody wants to be rich. If they don't want to be rich they want to feel rich. If they don't want to feel rich they are probably dead." What the heck is up with you! What kind of materialist are you. I mean seriously I know a many good people that don't want to be rich. Including me of all people. Mainly because I feel that my life right now is good enough the way it is. And yes being rich may give you a sense of entitlement but it also weakens you. For example if you were like David and had everything then lost it all you would be so used to having everything served to you on a silver platter things would feel so terrible that it would literally tear your life to shreds. I don't want to be rich for mainly this reason only because that depending on something to that kind of extent is good for no one.

This day altogether is one of my best days of home school yet but I am not done with this blog yet. I have found a very interesting thought train hidden in all of this documentary. We will always work our way up the chain no matter what. Also including me in some weird way. For example with me it's school. I started in a low part of Missouri and worked my way up to Parkville. but not really, I just got there because it was the best school district in Missouri. But even then I was not satisfied, I needed more then the best I needed specialized. Thus it led to the decision for home school. Which once again was not my thought but the parents. Though either way it was my decision to do so. Thusly we all wish to be above everyone else. And so I end with this question for you people reading my blog. How much is to much?

Early post

Today i'm posting early because I can't do anything else right now. I am waiting for Kristi to come home so she can start me on my math pre-test. After that I also need to review my Troyka book with her. Otherwise the only thing I can do left is to make flashcards for my french studies which will be done here after the blog. Other then this I am done for the day school wise.

Though today things are a bit different today has been extremely early. It included make up in essay questions which I had done all of them. While the other work I did was finish my math work and then I went on to French. This overall was probably one of my easiest days yet and tomorrow me and Kristi are going out to watch a documentary for my field work Friday which I will go into more detail about in tomorrow's blog.

This entire day I have been using my little desk space downstairs. I usually would have used the upstairs table but I felt more comfortable downstairs then anywhere else in the house. Mainly because i'm in a little corner with my computer right next to a light so there is literally everything I would need for school work. Besides I didn't want to carry all of my stuff back up the stairs until I need to.

overhaul

today is literally our start of spring cleaning. Except that we don't exactly clean everything during spring. Mainly because most of the time during Spring we are in such a good swing of things that we don't actually have to clean anything because it's already clean. But since we got out of the swing of things we just went ahead and started overhauling things all around the house. For me, I didn't really clean anything tangible. Instead I cleaned up the computer on the top floor of the house. It was swarming with a load of viruses.

Today's work that actually required effort was mainly done by my teacher Kristi. She dusted upstairs and downstairs, caught up all of the laundry, and sorted the mail. All while still helping me with keeping up with French and English work. For me though my main amount of work was reducing fractions, essay questions, and review work. And seriously that doesn't really require much work at all.

Today really wasn't that bad despite all of the work done. I did my laundry which since I am at home every day (except sometimes weekends) I could easily do before anyone even got home. Except that Kristi was doing all of the laundry. then I got to hang out with a couple of my friends for a couple hours. This also made things nice despite the work because we just sat around downstairs and gamed a lot. And even then there was little to interrupt my day so far.

break or no break

Well I have gotten some information a while ago I didn't tell on my post. I have every brake anyone in public school has except I can have a little bit more. For example yesterday was Labor day so since everybody wasn't in school and most people were home I didn't have school either. the "except I can have a little bit more" from sentence 3 meant that if I go over the current goal I can get one day off. This can build as much I work. So things like free school and made to serve count as my time and will go into my free days if I work over the normal amount for a school day.

Today was pretty much my normal day so far. It included some reading from Freakonomics and Hunger Games. I also went ahead and did my math. Which unlike last time which I struggled with as I had to do a bunch of reducing large fractions, I decided to split up the same amount of work along 3 days. The downside was that I had the large amount of fractions the first time and did not split it up.

On another note I have another project. It is a creative writing piece comparing me and Adrian Mole. I thought this might be easier and a lot less time consuming then the other choice. The other choice was to compare Adrian Mole to another character from a different book. This would definitely have take some more time and effort then to just compare him to me. Mainly because we have a lot of things in common.
