Writing to Victory

Unlike what I had previously thought last blog entry I managed to actually get into the school newspaper! I know that this is rather abrupt but it was kinda the same thing for me. I did not expect to actually get into the newspaper at all due to the fact that they were late with delivering the news by at least a week. Either way I don't care because now when May rolls around I will be able to start participating in Newspaper!

You might be wondering why that first paragraph is cut so short and I do have an answer for that. The reason for all of this is because  I am mainly happy with my success with writing a poem. This poem is about Fahrenheit 451 and if you haven't read this book it is one that I recommend and most of this poem will not make sense if you haven't read the book since I don't ever directly say anyone's name or event. This poem makes me extremely proud as it brings back memories of crying on the floor with the parents trying desperately to create a poem for class. I did manage to after a lot of help. Still this is absolutely awesome for me so I hope you enjoy. ( I'm also posting my artist statement first )

I’m Galen Seaton and I have chosen to write a poem for people to read. I wrote this poem as an allusion to Ray Bradbury’s poetic form of writing. I attempted to cover large parts of the story using this poem. For example the meeting with Clarisse is very important, but so is the introduction of characters like Beatty or Mildred. You cannot have one person dominating a story and still encompass the plot thoroughly. I plan to primarily cover the symbolism and poetic nature of this book including the metaphors of dark and light; also the fountains of knowledge known as books.

I write this as a pem because I feel that very little else can show how beautiful this book is. Even in a society who reject books from their daily lives there is still people who keep their books safe and cherish the authors abilities. While many people have the talent for hidden meanings, metaphors, symbolism, and many other things the average person who lack such talent can experience a raw form of poetry. People today can see thse books and telents as a n unrefined diamond instead of a chunk of caol. Fahrenheit 451 leads a world where people struggle and strive to see coal instead of the potential for diamond.

Candles in the Dark
A tribute to Fahrenheit 451

Candles in Trillions lie dormant to eye.
Trillions of people watch and let die.
few candles can light on bright sunny day
Let alone burn in any small way

Some candles lack wicks to let fire burn
When one does light many stumps turn.
They gawk, they stare, they scream at the sight
To see someones small head come alight.

One man does slumber as he puts out the minds
Joy in his life as he runs around blind
He wanders to close to glorious light
Soon his mind starts to wander over moon and of night.

The world opens up while others close him out.
Ones he holds dear turn towards him as if to shout
“What does one such as you hold dear?”
He might turn and respond
“A life in which I can truly adhere.”

Another candle lay lit but now been let down
He joins the ranks of those whose mind not run abound
No one shall feel the pain that he has seen in his life.
He protects those from knowledge; his thoughts like a knife

Back to the man who lies no longer dormant
Where he lies not asleep of his bed in bitter torment.
He closes his eyes to seek one of a solution
He feels the world is in true need of revolution

A shard of light shines through the bleak darkness.
A flicker of light who lies close to his carcass
A man with the chance to see the world hang
a man who didn’t quite go out with a bang

This man did stand up for the lives of the many
his chance had been lost.
with no such gain not even a penny.
He stands his ground with the man doused in light.
To fight the man in the dark; the enforcer of blight.

Together they stand, together they fall
The enforcer is gone, destroyed in the brawl.
Men with lit wicks stand together in tatters
to recreate the lives in which the mind still matters.

I hope that you enjoyed my little show of skill on my blog. I certainly had a lot of fun writing it and it helped me get another A in my English class so all wins all around.

A Piston Away

I am just so close that I can taste it at this point. Yep the Nerf gun is almost done and despite not knowing if it will even work I'm still ecstatic to see it mounted on my wall some time. It is absolutely awesome and I am only one part away from it being finished and sealed up completely. Once thats done I can move onto a new project which should be pretty fun. I think that I might try a cheaper project this time since it probably won't be funded by the parents after this little epidemic. Because of this I think I have an idea on what to work on but still not sure.

I do know that I did not make it into newspaper this year. I can confirm though that I will most likely be trying again for next year when they start asking for new people. This time I will take the classes. I also will be going over my submission and see what I did wrong when submitting the sign up sheet. This way I have better chances. Who knows though maybe they just don't like how I look at writing as being another challenge and a skill to keep sharpened. I know that is how I feel and without it things don't feel the same. The thought of cursive writing in schools alone was depressing for me and many of my friends in school today. Though seemingly unrelated this is huge as this shows more then just a form of writing going away but people are deciding to stop teaching what came with this new form of writing. For example did you know that the word "so" should not start a sentence? I would love to tell that to modern authors as they don't seem to notice this as a rule at all. I didn't for the longest time either but that is a rule to writing and many old rules along with the old writing style is being scrapped. Call me old fashioned but its always good to be able to live and learn from mistakes in the past. You have to start somewhere after all.

For all of you people following Kristi on Facebook at all you might know that she is once again going through some surgery. I would like to say that this is absolutely devastating and while sad to read her post this almost all seems normal at this point. I guess this comes with having a step mom with crones disease. In fact this goes for living with anyone that has a disease. I don't know if I will be sitting with her for dinner or not or maybe it will just be tomorrow until I see her again. Who knows because then I'll be out asking you. Either way this is another hope to see you soon Kristi. We all just got you back recently now I want you back in this household already. Call me selfish but she's the glue that keeps this family together. Without her Zoe becomes disorganized and rebellious, I would lose track of my head if it weren't directly apart of the rest of my body and even then no promises, finally though is the most important and that is Kristi seems to make dad happier then he has ever been in the longest time. Without Kristi around dad seems to still be himself but a little bit more retreated. I know that both Kristi and dad will be apart of those who read this and I say that I see for once a solid family. With this family sticking to the glue that is Kristi.

Applying the knowledge

Welcome back everyone to another entry for my blog and I just have to say I'm absolutely ecstatic.  You see I recently applied for the school newspaper and I hope that I'll be accepted at least once in the 4 years I'll be there. I don't know if I'll be accepted this time as I'm trying to apply through special consideration since I have not taken any of the prerequisites.  This is all about my determination though and I will no matter what at least get in for half a semester.  I have been working so hard on my typing and proper English that I think it would be a shame to drop it so easily for the sake of the public school system.

Another break but not for the holiday known as Valentines day.  To be completely honest I don't know why I have the day off tomorrow as there has been nothing stopping people from going to school on Valentines day before.  Still I don't mind too much as it gives me a day off and some time to recuperate myself.  Along with the break there is some really good news and that is my grades are still rolling pretty high. B pluses and A's straight across the board.  I'm really happy with this as this means that I have truly improved and at least one teacher had asked during parent teacher conferences if I had ever qualified for advanced placement or any other kind of advanced learning program. I don't know which teacher but this makes me happy either way and it shows that while I always have room to improve for straight A's I'm doing well with what I have achieved.

Other then all of this things are doing pretty good in the end.  With school doing well and meeting many friendly faces things haven't been going in anyway bad.  No doubt in my mind that I still miss home school but things are not bad at home either. Though there has been a revelation about my personality. This happens to be the fact that I have taken the test about my personality type and have found that I'm labeled an INTX. If you are wondering what this means then you can easily look up something like INTJ vs. INTP which will give you the differences and just think of those exactly in the middle. I like this link really well as it describes both in depth pretty well. This is confusing at times but explains quite a few things.

Snowing Home

The family is officially at home due to some nice amounts of snow along with some very low temperatures due to wind chill. Honestly these last 3 days have been pretty cool since I finally managed to go outside sledding as well as being able to hang out with my friends around the house, Eating awesome meals with the family, and all around having a nice relaxing break. I think everything is doing pretty well but what to blog about is always another good question.

Starting off with things is that I'm still rolling well in school with some straight A's which is honestly pretty amazing. if we look back at the last time I was in public school I was struggling just to get a C average looking at today I'm doing pretty darn well. Not a genius yet but the point being that if I continue working enough maybe I can make a name for myself in the school that isn't something like bitter, hateful, or stupid. These are only because of how I used to act in school did fall under stuff like those three descriptions but not anymore. I have people that I can talk to all over the school and I spend a good chunk of time trying to help out other students around the school when they seem to need it.

All in all life is good around here spending time with my family. I'm even re cementing old relationships with other parts of the family including my great grandma Doris who lives outside of the Missouri area. Since I started up public school it has been harder to find some free time but all in all things have been good. I'm learning how to drive with dad, I have some spiffy new clothes to wear around to occasions, and like I said earlier despite spending less time around family I seem to be doing better at spending time with family. In general I feel like an all around better person lately and I know that many people reading this might not have any clue about how I used to be but I can tell you that while most of the time I was a nice person the rest of the time I was bitter and all around cruel on the inside.

Conjuring Ideas.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog entry. I think that this makes sense with just one entry per week. Other then that though lets get down into the nitty gritty of things. Starting off things is that Court Warming is this Saturday and I don't think I'll be going this year. I'm not vetoing it permanently but I'm not going to ask out some random girl at school to go with me. It wouldn't make sense and I don't think it would make sense at all. Either way all I'm really saying is that not this year  and probably not until my junior year at least.

School is doing fantastic honestly and with my straight A's I'm feeling pretty awesome. I haven't ran into any of those people that don't like me and ran into some old faces that are really fun to sit and catch up with. Many old faces and friends moved on since then but I don't blame them since I never managed to keep in contact with them. The others though were either really ecstatic to see me and then even some of the teachers seem really awesome and interesting. No need to go into details about every one of them but as far as my favorite teacher which is probably one of your questions.  My favorite teacher at the moment is my physical science teacher who also is coach for the soccer team. He is all around a cool guy and even when were taking notes he's just all around fun.

Thought comes to mind though that since this blog isn't connected to home school I can go into some of the other stuff and this one has been bothering me and probably will be my next project. After my Nerf gun is finally finished which it is not I will start one this list which I think will be very informational to many people out there. You see I like some music which is constantly taken for granted as dub step. Despite popular belief there is easily much more than dub step including Hardstyle, chill, trance and etc. I'm going to try to make a list of all of the separate subdivisions of all of these different things and what makes them unique. The point is that I listen to my music and so many people mistake it for something its not and now I think they don't know if something else exists that's even remotely similar. I plan on fixing that it will most likely be posted on this blog. Time for all of those obscure types of music to come out of the shadows and join the list of techno based music.

So close I can smell it!

I did not manage to finish my gun this last time but I got pretty darn close. The gun is on the path to being finished and sealed up but I screwed up one part that is extremely crucial to the overall design. Until I get a replacement part the whole gun can't be finished but it isn't entirely bad. The fumes of the cannon design and the stuff used to stick it all together was downright evil. I couldn't stand the smell in general as it was almost toxic. That is just my opinion on it because I managed to stay around the smell for a while it was just pretty rank.

How about school stuff at the moment and those happen to be tests which isn't that bad. Only the first tests of the year which is the World history test, Physical Science test, and then finally the Language arts test which isn't that hard due to the fact that it is only going to be going over nouns. Seriously I think that this won't be that hard and this makes me pretty happy. I know that these may sound like a lot but unlike the tests from Middle school My classes have been divided in half since then so there is 4 less classes that I have to study for at all. Even then I only have to really study for two because Nouns are easy and even the worksheets that I did for class were easy. I just have to remember to double check my work and then I shouldn't miss that much at all.

Other then all of that though I think that this is all going to be fairly standard week. Nothing out of the ordinary is happening other then another cold front moving in with a possible chance of more snow. Speaking of which have I explained that I am mad about this frantic weather. The reason for this is because that over here in Missouri we just got spring weather in the middle of Winter before Winter was even finished. I love winter and to think that it ended early is just sad and then Spring comes along taunting everybody else and all to end with even more Frigid weather. I love that Winter came back for me but still waking up in the morning to a rather rude awakening of cold bitter winds while waiting for the bus was not exactly pleasant

Long time No See!

Welcome back everyone that is still following me after my rather abrupt disappearance. Honestly I had no real good reasons to do this at all but I can say that I have accomplished quite a bit. Starting off lets get right into the thick of things and walk headfirst into public school. I have to say I am enjoying so much more then I used to. The main reason for this is because I have become an all around nicer person and because of this people like me better, I'm getting my homework done, and the classes are more tolerable when I'm not so annoyed at everyone around me. In other words public school turned out better then I had expected and then some.

Lets go onto one of the things that I kept on telling myself I needed to blog about for a while. This happens to be that the Cannon that I have desperately worked on is not done but almost there. I just need to do the final touches, probably this weekend and then POOF! Its finished. I have loved it from the moment I have set my eyes on it and to be honest I don't even know if it is going to work at all. For all I know it could end up flying to pieces. Of course this isn't going to stop me from making this fit together and start working. I love my cannon as if it were my baby already and it can't shoot anything yet.

Yep things have been doing pretty good over here and they might just get even better. I'm aiming for the stars and trying out for one of the hardest clubs to join in school. The Student Council. Yep this thing is a legend that allows you to have input about what happens in the entire school and carries its own weight with the title. This little position allows some of the more exclusive voices be heard through you. I wish to represent the Nerds and all of the others who go by other names but just the same. I'm Galen Seaton and I approve this message!
